HOUSTON, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (0-0-1, 0-0-0) continue their three-game road trip to open up the season as they travel to Houston for a Thursday night matchup with Big 12 opponent the Houston Cougars (0-2-0, 0-0-0).

Lumberjacks at a Glance:

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks are coming off a tie in their season opener against former rival Sam Houston State as the Lumberjacks scored in the 64th minute as Reaganne Crane's corner kick led to an Ella Morgan goal for SFA in an eventual 1-1 tie. Ella Morgan buried her second career goal in the tie, while Crane dished out her fifth career assist. Lydia Sattler kept the Bearkats off the board for almost 70 straight minutes after allowing a goal in the 31st minute and finished the evening with four saves. Meanwhile, Ava Shannon as well as both Erin and Ella Morgan played the full 90 minutes in addition to Sattler for SFA. The Lumberjacks kept a consistent offensive attack going against the Bearkats as they totaled five shots in both the first and second half and finished the match with 10 total shots as a team.

Cougars at a Glance:

The University of Houston Cougars enter their second home game of the season with an 0-2 record looking to also claim their first win of the season. The Cougars opened their season with a match against no. 17 ranked Texas before playing the same Sam Houston Bearkats their last time out. The Cougars are led by Head Coach Jaime Frias who is entering his third season leading the Cougars soccer program. Cameryn Maddox leads the Cougars with one goal on the season and two points, while Krysten Kizer leads the team with one assist.

Scouting Report:

For SFA, Maddie Bowers and Cassidy Hoang will be squaring off against their former team in the Cougars as both transferred to SFA from Houston for this season. Bowers made her presence felt in the season opener for SFA as she led the team with three shots including one shot on goal in 57 minutes played, while Cassidy Hoang was a workhorse as she played in 77 minutes for the 'Jacks and totaled one shot.

The Cougars return their two leading scorers from last season in Cameryn Maddox and Aryana Jimison who combined for 12 goals last season. Jimison was named to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team. Goalkeeper Olivia Dietrich ranks top-10 in three statistical categories in Houston program history in wins, ties, and games started by a goalie for the Cougars.

Series:

This will be the 13th all-time meeting between the two schools as the Cougars hold a slight 6-4-2 lead in the all-time series including a 4-2-2 home record. The Cougars hold a 2-1-2 record over the last five meetings and claimed a 5-1 win most recently when these two programs met last season in Nacogdoches.
