SFA got off to a good start as they took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning. Cole Hill hit his second home run of the year and brought home Nolan Brown to take a 2-0 lead over the Bears. Peyton Parker's single brought Colton Griffin home to extend SFA's lead to 3-0. Cal Martin capped off the top of the 2nd with his RBI single that scored Colton Griffin and gave the 'Jacks their biggest lead of the game 4-0.
The Bears rallied back, posting six runs of their own in the 2nd to take a 6-4 lead over the Lumberjacks. SFA was unable to make a comeback after Baylor kept their scoring going.
The Bears grabbed two runs in the 3rd, one in the 4th, and posted another seven runs in the 5th inning. SFA held Baylor scoreless for the rest of the game but was unable to make up the deficit.
Carter Hines led SFA's bullpen with his four strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched. Baylor's Drew Leach (2-0) received the win while Reid Bowyer (0-2) was credited with loss.
The Lumberjacks resume conference play with a three-game series against the Utah Valley Wolverines. SFA will travel to Orem, Utah where there first game is scheduled for March 15th at 5:05 p.m. CT.
