'Jacks Drop Series Opener to Wolverines

Skylar Jaco would draw his fourth start of the season on the mound for SFA while he was opposed by Braden Boisvert of Utah Valley. The Wolverines would open up scoring for the game as they would strike first in the bottom of the first with a pair of runs and held a 2-0 lead after one full inning. Utah Valley would score five more runs in the bottom of the second and held a 7-0 lead heading into the third inning. The 'Jacks would break the ice in the top of the third as Cole Hill would send a 3-1 pitch to deep left field for his third homerun of the season and get SFA on the board trailing 7-1 after three full innings. However, the Wolverines would do all the scoring for the remainder of this game as they would score a run in the fourth, before adding on three more runs in the bottom of the seventh to institute the run-rule with an 11-1 win over the Lumberjacks.
Utah Valley's Braden Boisvert (1-1) was credited with the win today, while Skylar Jaco (0-3) took the loss for SFA. Jack James struck out four hitters scattered across five innings pitched for the Lumberjacks. Cole Hill led the offensive effort for SFA today as he recorded a pair of hits, highlighted by his third homerun of the campaign in a 2-3 day for him at the plate. Cody Fleischer recorded a base hit of his own, while Brock Knoerr worked a walk in his lone at-bat of the game.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action tomorrow, March 16th when they get set for game two of the three-game series against Utah Valley. First pitch for tomorrow's game is set 3:05 p.m. CST.
