Lumberjacks Baseball Announces 2025 Schedule

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin baseball team announced today their 2025 schedule.
The Lumberjacks will be led by Matt Vanderburg who enters his first season at the helm of SFA baseball. Vanderburg comes to SFA after a 16-season stint at West Texas A&M where he built the Buffs into a regional and national contender. During his time at West Texas A&M he accumulated a 515-293 overall record.
The Lumberjacks will begin the Vanderburg traveling to Sugarland, Texas, February 14th-16th for a four-game series against the Purdue University Boilermakers. SFA will then return home to play their first home series of the season in a four-game bout with the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, February 21st-23rd.
"SFA baseball is very excited about the 2025 schedule," said head coach Matt Vanderburg. "We feel as though the season openers will test our strengths and weaknesses and help us get into a groove prior to our conference games. We will be better prepared and hopefully get the momentum going for the Southland Conference regular season. We purposely scheduled four game weekends in the first couple of weeks to help gauge our depth of our pitching staff and our offense.
"We believe by doing this, it will help prepare the team for the long road ahead and help us position ourselves to challenge the teams in the Southland Conference. The staff and this group of talented athletes are up for the challenge, and we are looking forward to the upcoming season. We hope the fans are ready as well."
SFA will then travel to Waco, Texas for a midweek game against Baylor University on February 25th. The Lumberjacks will then begin Southland Conference play at Pilgrim's Park against the University of New Orleans, February 28th-March 2nd.
The Lumberjacks travel to Houston, Texas for a midweek contest against the University of Houston on March 25th.
The Lumberjacks will play 23 home games this season at Pilgrim's Park including five Southland Conference series.
SFA finishes their home schedule against University of Incarnate Word (UIW) May 5th-10th before heading to the Southland Conference Championship from May 15th-18th.
