Ladyjacks Kick-Off Homecoming Weekend Against Lady Demons

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks Volleyball Team (16-6, 8-1) get ready to open up homecoming weekend at SFA as they host rival Northwestern State University (6-11, 1-7) in an early Saturday afternoon matchup at the Pressure Cooker.
Ladyjacks at a Glance:
The Ladyjacks got back in the win column within the friendly confines of Shelton Gym on Tuesday evening as they handily defeated Lamar by way of sweep to record their 12th sweep of the season and their eighth home win of the year, while taking home their 16th win of the season. SFA will close out a four-game homestand on Saturday afternoon to kick-off the homecoming weekend games in Nacogdoches as they look to continue their winning ways at the Pressure Cooker and stay within one game of Southeastern Louisiana for first place in the Southland.
Lady Demons at a Glance:
The Northwestern State Lady Demons travel to the Pineywoods to close out a mini two-game roadtrip looking to get back in the win column and snap a six-game losing skid. The Lady Demons will also enter Saturday searching for their first road win of the season. In their last time out, the Lady Demons also squared off against Lamar on the road but fell 3-0, however, put up a valiant effort as they lost by a combined five points over the final two sets.
Scouting Report:
Katherine Holtman and Izabella Ortiz continue to impose their will on opposing defenses this season as both are tied for the team lead in kills with 204 apiece, while Ortiz leads the squad with 260 points and Holtman paces the 'Jacks averaging a healthy 3.53 points/set. Jayden Flynn continues to jump-start the SFA offense as she has dished out a team-leading 471 assists this season. Meanwhile defensively, Camryn Hill continues to be a nuisance for opposing offenses as she leads the team with 252 digs, while Kyanna Creecy continues to stuff opposing hitters at the net as she leads the Ladyjacks with 87 blocks including 15 solo blocks.
Reaghan Thompson is the backbone of the Lady Demon offense as she leads the team in kills (207), points (242.5), and points/set (4.04). Gabby Seeds has formed a dynamic dup with Thompson offensively as Seeds leads the team with 433 assists on the year. Ashlyn Svoboda leads the defensive effort for Northwestern State as she has accumulated 229 digs, while Deja Benjamin has tallied a team-leading 78 blocks this year.

Saturday afternoon will continue the historic rivalry between these two Southland Conference foes. SFA leads the all-time series 55-5 over Northwestern State as they have won the last eight meetings between the two schools including holding an impressive 27-1 home record against the Lady Demons. In their last meeting in 2021, the Ladyjacks claimed a 3-0 win over the Lady Demons at the Pressure Cooker.
