NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball team (15-5, 7-0 SLC) looked to extend their home win streak to 35 games as the New Orleans Privateers (2-18, 0-8 SLC) came to the Pressure Cooker.
After being on the road last week, the Ladyjacks used the home crowd to their advantage by jumping out to an early 7-2 lead and forcing New Orleans to take an early timeout. UNO cut the lead down to two and kept it within three points until SFA went on a 6-0 run that featured three kills from Kyanna Creecy, 17-8. The Ladyjacks went on another six-point spurt to extend their lead to 23-9. The teams split the points the rest of the set as SFA cruised to a 25-11 first set victory.
SFA quickly doubled up UNO 6-3 early in the second set. Later the 'Jacks went on a four-point run which extended their lead to 14-6. SFA continued to run away with this set and finished on another four-point spurt which included three kills from Izabella Ortiz and an ace from Harley Krause.
The SFA offense could not be slowed down as the 'Jacks quickly jumped out to a 9-2 lead. Later on in the set, the Ladyjacks went on a six-point spurt which featured back-to-back-to-back aces from Jayden Flynn, 17-5. Both teams traded blows, but ultimately the 'Jacks offense would prevail as they finished the third set on a 6-1 run and took the final set by a score of 25-9.
Two Ladyjacks had career-high performances in this match. Jayden Flynn tied her career high with six aces, while Kyanna Creecy entered the SFA record book as the only Ladyjack to record a perfect attack percentage. Creecy was 11 for 11 which puts her in sole possession of the highest attack percentage with a minimum of 10 attacks.
