Lumberjacks Statistical Analysis
It has now been a whole month since the Lumberjack's last loss and have now won eight out of their last nine games. What's even more impressive is that the 'Jacks are on the verge of winning their 15th straight conference match in the regular season.
The Lumberjacks currently sit atop of the WAC standings tied with Utah Valley, both at 4-0. Although being one of three teams left undefeated in the WAC conference, none of these wins have been a walk in the park. The biggest point differential in the four games was a nine-point win against New Mexico State. The PressU defense has played a big role in shutting down opposing WAC offenses, not allowing more than 68 points during this span.
The 'Jacks now lead the conference in field goal percentage with 48.2%. They are 32nd in the country in that statistic and 3.6% behind the nation's leader of Gonzaga who has a 51.8% field goal percentage. Sadaidriene Hall leads the Lumberjack's with 60.2% to his name, which is the best in the conference individually and is ranked 27th in the nation.
Latrell Jossell continues to be one of the best deep shooters in the conference as he remains first in three-point percentage and 23rd nationally. He has made 35 of 79 buckets from beyond the arc, equaling out to 44.3%. Whenever in need of a three-pointer, the 'Jacks will make sure to get the ball in Jossell's hands.
A Look at the Trailblazers
Utah Tech heads into match against SFA coming off a whole week of rest after a two-game losing streak on the road. They sit at a 9-7 overall record and a 1-2 record in conference. The 'Jacks look to give the Trailblazers their first home loss of the season as they are currently 6-0 at Burns Arena, most of those wins coming against small NAIA schools.
Cameron Gooden leads the Trailblazer's offense, as he averages 15.6 points per game. Gooden has a 46.4% field goal percentage and a 38.7% three-point percentage, so expect him to take shots from all across the floor. He leads the team in free-throw percentage with 80.6%, making 54 out of 67 attempts. Gooden also leads the team with 54 assists so expect points to be put on the board whenever Gooden has the ball.
Tanner Christensen, 6'10 sophomore, makes the most of his height recording a 60.2% field goal percentage on 108 attempts, majority coming inside the paint. Christensen leads the team with 123 rebounds and 15 blocks.
Watch for Noa Gonsalves to make most of his shots from the three-point line as he leads the team in three-point attempts (74) and three-point percentage (41.9), of those who have made more than 30 attempts.

Last SFA Match: 'Jacks Defeat Lopes to Make it 14 Straight Regular Season Conference Wins
Stephen F. Austin defeated Grand Canyon University 73-68 to win their sixth straight game and 14th consecutive regular season conference game. The Lumberjacks improve to 12-5 (4-0 WAC) and the Lopes fall to 11-5 (2-1 WAC).
The Lumberjacks continue their historic winning streak, while breaking up the Lopes winning streak. It was a defensive battle from the start as it took a minute and a half for any points to be put on the board. However, the Lopes came out firing, with their first three buckets coming from beyond the three-point line. It was a tight back-and-forth fight for the first 20 minutes of the game, as the biggest lead of the half came with 14 minutes remaining when the Lopes had a 13-6 lead. Momentum finally swung to the side of the Lumberjacks with 3:13 remaining when they finished the half with a 12-3 run. Robbie Armbrester played a major role in that run scoring six points, which consisted of a monster dunk that grew a major roar from the crowd, and the lay-up that finally gave the 'Jacks their first lead of the game at 32-31. The Lumberjack defense played a key role in the first half as a whole, as they outscore the Lopes in turnovers forced with 10-2. The Lopes took advantage of their free-throw opportunities, going a perfect 11-11 in the half.
The second half was full of runs and momentum swings. The 'Jacks carried the momentum from the first half into the beginning of the second, scoring five quick points out of the half. The next ten minutes that followed did not go as the Lumberjacks had planned as GCU went on a 18-6 run to take over the lead 52-49. The 'Jacks then tightened up their offense and responded to the Lopes run with one of their own, going 15-4 in the next seven minutes and retaking the lead once again 64-56. The last minute and a half were a matter of holding off the Lopes and making the free-throws when it mattered. That was no problem for AJ Cajuste, who made seven out of eight free-throws to hold a big enough lead to defeat the Lopes.
Cajuste's free-throws led him to player of the game, recording 15 points, two rebounds, and three assists. #42 Sadaidriene Hall put down 11 points along with five rebounds, an assist, a steal, and two blocks. Hall's #3 jersey got torn in the first half, forcing him to wear #42 the remainder of the game. Every Lumberjack had a day to remember, as every 'Jack that hit the court this afternoon was able to put up some points.
