Jacks Announce Full 2026-27 Slate

Competitive non-conference schedule awaits defending SLC regular season champs
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin men's basketball have officially announced the program's 2026-27 schedule. The slate includes several competitive non-conference matchups in addition to a late November MTE at the Paradise Jam and 22 SLC games.
This past season, SFA became the first Southland Conference program to reach 20 league wins in a single season which was capped by winning the SLC regular season title: the program's sixth such championship and the first since 2019-20. Runner-up in the SLC Tournament, the Jacks made the program's fourth trip all-time to the National Invitation Tournament; the first national postseason appearance for the program since the 2022 CBI. SFA lost an overtime bout with tournament runner-up Tulsa to conclude the season at 28-6 overall.
Year two under head coach Matt Braeuer begins with an exhibition match against Sam Houston on October 23 at home. SFA Athletics is offering a special ticket package for the weekend. For just $24, fans will receive tickets to the men's basketball exhibition vs. Sam Houston, SFA volleyball's SLC matchup with Northwestern State (10/24, 12 p.m.) and Lumberjack football's homecoming tilt with Southeastern Louisiana (10/24, 5 p.m.). The Lumberjacks' first official game will be against Lyon on November 2, followed by Texas Lutheran on November 6, both hosted in Nacogdoches. The team will then travel to Abilene to face Abilene Christian on November 11. It's a return contest for the Jacks who got the best of the Wildcats in mid-November, picking up a ten-point victory last season in Nacogdoches.
The Lumberjacks' non-conference schedule continues with a home game against Rice on November 14, before heading to St. Thomas to participate in the Paradise Jam on November 20-23, where they will face Indiana State among other opponents yet to be determined. SFA beat Rice 81-69 in Houston last fall for Braeuer's first career road win.
In December, SFA will play a series of critical road games, including matches against SMU in Dallas on December 1 and Louisiana Tech in Ruston on December 12. In between those matchups, the Jacks will open Southland Conference play against East Texas A&M inside William R. Johnson Coliseum and will host UTA four days later. The first SLC road tests will come against UTRGV in Edinburg on December 19 and TAMUCC in Corpus Christi on December 21. The Lumberjacks will conclude the 2026 portion of the schedule with an SLC home game against Northwestern State on December 29.
Eighteen-straight SLC games to close out the regular season begin in the new year. Three of SFA's first four games are away from Nacogdoches, while the Jacks will enjoy four of their final six games at home in advance of the SLC Tournament.
