SFA volleyball team invites fans and supports to Bottlecap Alley in Nacogdoches Sunday night
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA volleyball team will continue its historic 2018 season at the NCAA Tournament and the Ladyjacks are inviting all of their fans and supporters to come celebrate that accomplishment with them.
On Sunday, November 25, Bottlecap Alley, located at 3203 North Street in Nacogdoches, will host a watch party for the Ladyjacks beginning at 7:00 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., ESPNU will carry the live unveiling of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship Bracket where SFA will find out where it will be headed and who it will be taking on in the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006.
Last Sunday in Natchitoches, La., SFA earned the Southland Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by defeating Central Arkansas 3-0 in the Southland Conference Tournament title match. That victory helped SFA run the nation's longest active winning streak to 29 matches and up its win total to a nation-leading 32.
SFA, who claimed its 10th Southland Conference regular season title in program history before winning the Southland's bid to the NCAA Tournament, has been nothing short of dominant since it took off on its historic run on September 1. The Ladyjacks' 32 wins this season have tied the program record for wins in a season.
The 2018 NCAA Division I Volleyball Tournament begins the weekend of Nov. 29-Dec. 1 with the nation's top 16 teams serving as host sites for the first two rounds of the tournament. Each of the top 16 teams will host three other teams to see who advances to the regional round on Dec. 7-8.
SFA is the only current Southland Conference squad who has an NCAA Tournament victory on its resume. That win came on Dec. 1, 2006, when the Ladyjacks took down Alabama 3-2 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
