TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- The SFA men's and women's cross country teams will keep rolling through their season by taking part in the Crimson Classic on Friday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the Harry Prichett Running Park. The Crimson Classic will get under way with a men's 8,000-meter race at 9 a.m. (CT), followed by a women's 6,000-meter race at 9:45 a.m. (CT).
In addition to the host Crimson Tide, the men's race will feature 29 teams, including regionally-ranked programs Auburn, Belmont, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Lipscomb, Middle Tennessee, North Florida, Samford, UT Martin, Texas A&M and Texas-Arlington.
The women's field consists of 31 teams, including Auburn, Belmont, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Lipscomb, LSU, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Samford, Southern Miss, Texas A&M and UAB.
"This is going to be the last meet for us before the conference championship, so it's a chance to work out some kinks", said SFA cross country coach Cody Clark. "It will be a good thing for us to race against some teams in other regions, and it's going to be a highly competitive meet. Overall, we're dealing with some injuries but are going to put forth our best effort on Friday."
Racing for the SFA men will be a lineup of Evan Barron, Larry Deramus, Pedro Flores, Quinlin McGregor, Caleb Pickett, Jeremy Rich, Erick Rotich and John Shirk. The women's team will field a smaller lineup of Liz Guerra, Christina Hernandez, Brittany Innis, Kelsey Ramirez and Taryn Surratt.
