Ladyjacks Ink Two More Recruits to NLIs

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin head volleyball coach Debbie Humphreys announced the signing of two prospects to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to join her Ladyjacks this fall.
The recruiting class for the spring signing period includes one outside hitter and one middle blocker.
Middle blocker Lauren Taft signs with SFA out of Round Rock High School and played club ball with Austin Juniors. She also was named first team all-district and offensive player of the year for her district. Taft was selected to the all-Central Texas second team and earned academic all-district honors as well.
“Lauren fits the true definition of a student-athlete. She excels both on the court and in the classroom,” Humphreys said. “Lauren has played volleyball at a high level with both her high school and club teams throughout her career. Her volleyball IQ, along with her athleticism, makes up for anything she lacks in size. We are excited to have her as a member of the SFA Volleyball family.”
The final signee of the spring period for SFA is J’Keisha Evans. She signs with the Ladyjacks out of Panola Junior College where she was named an all-conference honorable mention. During high school in Longview, Evans was a first team all-district selection and was named District 14-4A’s top hitter. She also was named to the all-East Texas first team and was an all-state honorable mention selection.
“J’Keisha is a tremendous athlete who still has lots of room for growth,” Humphreys said. “We are excited that she still hasn’t reached her full potential and feel that her development will continue very quickly once she arrives on campus. Her fun, bubbly personality is very contagious, and she will certainly be a player to watch throughout the upcoming season.”
This spring signing class of two future Ladyjacks joins the three signees from the fall period of Abby McIntyre, Lexus Cain and Kelsi Bartlett. All five signees will join the team for training camp when SFA begins its campaign for the 2014 season.
