Southland Conference Release
FRISCO, Texas – Senior goalkeeper Morgan Glick was named the Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon in conjunction with the release of the all-academic teams.
Additionally, Glick, senior Megan Dunnigan and sophomore Brooke Dunnigan were named first team academic All-SLC, while sophomore Amanda Doyle was named to the second team. Glick and the Dunnigan sisters were automatic selections for the Ladyjacks.
Glick, making her second appearance on the all-academic squad, becomes first SFA player under head coach Wally Crittenden to pick up the Student-Athlete of the Year honor and first since former Ladyjack Kylie Louw picked up the award after the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The native of Boerne, Texas, enjoyed a standout final campaign at SFA, both on the field and in the classroom, posting a 3.83 grade point average in kinesiology with a minor in biology. Glick was also named a 2014 CoSIDA Capital One Second Team Academic All-American on Tuesday, Nov. 25, and a first team Capital One Academic All-District 15 selection on Thursday, Oct. 30.
On the pitch, Glick was named first team All-SLC as a senior, posting 14-3-1 record with 12 shutouts (eight solo, four combined) across 1,572 minutes in between the posts. She recorded a 0.57 goals against average and .884 save percentage, allowing just 10 goals with 76 saves on the year, facing 201 shots.
Megan Dunnigan picks up her third academic selection from the SLC, after posing a 3.84 GPA in biology with a minor in general business, while sister and fellow defender Brooke Dunnigan makes her first appearance, recording a 3.98 GPA in food and nutrition dietetics. The natives of Round Rock, Texas, helped captain one of the nation’s top-ranked defensive units, finishing the season sixth in shutout percentage (0.650), also ranking atop the SLC in goals allowed (0.60), goals against average (0.59) and shutouts (13).
On the offensive end, Megan Dunnigan, also a second team Capital One Academic All-District 15 selection, scored three goals and recorded one assist for seven total points. Brooke Dunnigan totaled three assists for three total points.
Doyle, like Brooke Dunnigan, is making her first appearance on the academic squad after posting a 3.51 GPA in kinesiology. SFA’s lone representative on the second team, the native of Carrollton, Texas, scored four goals and picked up two assists for 10 total points.
The Ladyjacks led all with four selections, all of which played pivotal roles in helping SFA to an unprecedented fourth straight Southland regular season title.
