KILGORE, Texas – Stephen F. Austin outfielder Matthew Dickey has enjoyed a standout summer for the East Texas Pump Jacks of the Texas Collegiate League and is nearing the league’s single-season stolen base record.
Dickey, swiped three bags Sunday, Aug. 4, in a 4-3 win over the Texas Marshalls to bring his season total to 38. Having already captured the franchise record Aug. 3, Dickey needs just one more stolen base to tie the league’s mark of 39 held by Brock Herbert (2010) and Matt Young (2004). Four games remain in the regular season, which concludes Friday, Aug. 9.
The Kilgore, Texas, native, currently sits third in the league with a .325 batting average and tied for seventh with 31 runs scored.
The Lumberjack was one of five current and future SFA players to earn a nod to the 2013 TCL All-Start game back in July when he was joined by Ricardo Sanchez, Zach Marberry, Connor Fikes and signee Garrett McMullen.
