NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Now that the school year is over, and before we begin the 2013-14 academic year, SFA athletics wanted to take a look back at the Top 25 Moments from the 2012-13 season.
No. 13
Chase Greening came just two outs away from the first no-hitter in Stephen F. Austin history in the series opener at McNeese State. Greening retired the first 20 batters he faced and struck out 10 Cowboys before the no-no was broken up with one out in the ninth. Although the no-hit bid came to an end, the Lumberjacks took the decision recording a 3-0 victory over McNeese State.Greening moved to 3-2 on the year with the win, matching his career high with 130 pitches to get through 8.1 innings. In addition to the back-to-back singles in the ninth, Greening only allowed two walks to Cowboy hitters.
It was not the first time Greening has had success against the Cowboys as he threw a complete-game shutout against McNeese State last season in Nacogdoches.
The win also pushed SFA into a three-way tie for first place in the Southland Conference. -SFA-
