NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball head coach Debbie Humphreys announced the hiring of Lauren Adams Lanford as assistant coach on Tuesday. She replaces former assistant Brian Yale, who recently resigned to accept the head coaching position at UT-Pan American.
"We are certainly excited to have Lauren join us," Humphreys said. "I think she brings a lot of positive qualities to the staff and is someone who can relate very well to the players and what they are going through. She will be good in a lot of aspects of what we do, even in the things away from the court that people don't see and I am really looking forward to working with her."
A former Ladyjack setter from 2003-06, Adams spent time as a student assistant coach in 2007 with SFA and helped lead the Ladyjacks to a share of their fourth consecutive Southland Conference title and a 27-8 overall record.
During her playing days she was part of three Southland Conference championship squads and was named to the all-Southland Conference Tournament team in 2006, helping lead the Ladyjacks to the NCAA Tournament where they would eventually upset Alabama for the school's first-ever NCAA Tournament win.
She finished her career with nearly 1,300 assists and averaged a career-high 9.4 assists per set as a freshman in 2003.
For the past year she has been serving as an academic advisor at Arkansas State, a position she accepted following a stint as a graduate assistant at SFA in student services. She holds both bachelors and masters degrees from SFA.
