Ladyjacks Earn AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Ladyjack volleyball team was recently honored as one of 94 Division I women's teams in the nation to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award.
SFA was one of only six Texas institutions and are joined by Central Arkansas and UT-Arlington as the only three Southland Conference schools to earn the award. This is the first award of its kind since SFA won the award five straight times from 2000-04.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
SFA begins the 2010 season on August 27 in Waco, Texas, when it takes on Baylor at the Baylor Classic.
