NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Lumberjack baseball team will bring an end to its fall practice this week with the fall world series and alumni weekend taking place at Jaycees Field.
After a scout day on Tuesday the Lumberjacks will divide up into two teams for its annual Purple/White fall series, which will be in a best-of-three format on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Former players will then filter in for the weekend with a golf tournament scheduled for Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and the second annual alumni game slated for noon on Sunday.
"Last year's alumni game was certainly a success and was a lot of fun when we were able to get a lot of older guys back and begin to really build some tradition and culture with the program," head coach Johnny Cardenas said. "The fall world series will also be good for the guys as well. They have worked hard all fall and it will be fun to get out there and play as close to a live game as we possible at this time of the year."
Game one of the fall world series will open with Jared West scheduled to throw against his twin brother Jason West. In Game two Brad Oates will get the ball opposite Mark Almanguer, followed by a matchup of Justin Braddock against Brett Higginbotham in the third game.
Former players interested in taking part in the game still have time to get involved and should contact the President of the SFA Baseball Alumni Association, Zach Gardner either via email at gardnerzl9@gmail.com or at (281) 799-1463.
The 'Jacks return 23 letterwinners from a year ago when SFA won a program-best 34 games and finished fourth in the Southland Conference.
