NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA baseball team will look to put a three-game losing streak to an end today as it begins a two-game set against Louisiana-Monroe at 3:00 p.m. at Jaycees Field.
Something has to give on Tuesday and Wednesday as SFA is 14-2 in the last two seasons in non-conference home games, while ULM is 9-1 in road contests so far this year.
SFA (9-11, 1-5) steps out of conference to face its only Sun Belt foe of the season after being swept over the weekend by Lamar. The `Jacks did not put together a multi-run inning in any of the three games; however, they did register more hits than the Cards in two of the three contests.
Noel Trevino continues to lead the offense in the power categories after delivering his team-best sixth home run against Lamar. Jeff Brewer also finished up strong in Beaumont, getting four hits - including his second homer of the year - in his last five at-bats of the series.
Louisiana-Monroe (14-6, 7-2 SBC) has won six of its last seven games and is currently in third place in the SBC after taking two of three games over Arkansas State. The Warhawks bring in a high-powered offense to face the `Jacks pitching staff, hitting at a .328 clip for the season and already having bashed 27 home runs on the year.
Both Ben Soignier and Dexter Fontenot are currently holding onto averages over .400, while six Warhawks overall have averages of at least .325. The power numbers have come primarily from Kyle Suire who currently sports a .386 average with six home runs and 26 RBI in starting all 20 games this year.

The `Jacks continue Southland Conference play on Friday when they begin a three-game series at home against Northwestern State.
