NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks head baseball coach Donnie Watson has announced the scheduling of a mandatory meeting for all prospective and returning players for 2008.
The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. on August 30 in the Ready Room located in the SFA Athletic Field House for all scholarship and returning players. Prospective walk-ons will be required to meet at 6 p.m. in the same location. The field house is located on the north end of Homer Bryce Stadium.
The meeting will consist of a fall preview and general information, including outlining the 2008 schedule.
Watson encourages all walk-on and scholarship players to be aware that they are required to attend all NCAA required meetings regarding compliance, academics, physical training and drug testing policies before and during the season.
Also, all incoming freshmen and transfers are required to be registered and cleared with the NCAA Clearinghouse. This process includes the declaration of amateur status to be eligible for NCAA certification.
Athletes are encouraged to complete this process prior to attending the meeting on August 30.
The `Jacks are coming off a breakout season that saw Watson lead his squad to 31 wins and a berth in the Southland Conference Tournament.
