NACOGDOCHES, Texas - For the second time this post-season Stephen F. Austin first baseman Steven Hill has been named to an All-America team. Hill was a second-team selection to the 2007 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-America squad, announced Monday.
The honor comes just days after Hill was named to the ABCA All-South Central Region Team and follows a first-team selection to the Louisville Slugger All-America squad. Following the season, Hill was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year and Hitter of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SLC First Team. He was recently chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft and has since signed a contract with the organization.
Hill, a senior from Houston, Texas, enjoyed a stellar 2007 campaign as he led the Lumberjacks to their first-ever appearance in the Southland Conference Tournament. He hit .385 with 73 RBI this season and finished third in the nation with 24 home runs.
