
SFA Places Two on All-SLC Teams

PLANO, Texas - Junior catcher Steven Hill (Houston, Texas) and junior outfielder David Jeans (Center, Texas) were named to the 2006 All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Monday morning. Both Hill and Jeans received third-team recognition.
Hill was one of the top sluggers in the conference throughout the 2006 season, hitting .348 with 14 home runs and 44 runs batted in. Hill finished second in the SLC in home runs and slugging percentage and was among the league's top 10 in hits, doubles and total bases. Hill tied the SFA single-season record with his .348 batting average this season and is currently among the school's career leaders in home runs and runs batted in.
Jeans started 51 games for the Lumberjacks in the outfield this season. He was utilized primarily in the leadoff spot where he recorded a .341 batting average and finished second on the team with a 31 runs scored. He finished the season with a home run, three doubles, a triple, 14 RBIs and nine stolen bases.
SFA concluded the 2006 season Saturday afternoon by recording their first series sweep. The Lumberjacks took all three games in the series against Sam Houston State to finish the year 15-41 (.268) overall and 7-23 (.233) in the Southland Conference.
