
SFA to Face Broncs

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team will close out its current five-game home stand with a two-game series against Texas-Pan American. The 'Jacks will open the series Tuesday with a 3 p.m. game against the Broncs (19-22). The second game of the series is slated to begin Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Lumberjacks enter the series 7-32 on the season after winning the first game against Northwestern State over the weekend. Both games will be played at Jaycees Field.
Freshman Richard Folmer picked up his first victory of the season Friday against Northwestern State. He pitched 5.1 innings and surrendered only two hits and no runs, while striking out three Demons. Classmate Erich Lehmann came on in relief in the sixth inning and pitched 3.2 innings of work to record his first career save. Lehmann surrendered only two runs and struck out two in the relief appearance.
Junior Clay Britton continues to be the one of the hottest hitters in the league. After starting the season in the low .200s, Britton's batting average has climbed almost 70 points in the past 15 games. During that stretch Britton is leading the team with a .365 average, has two doubles, a triple, seven runs batted in and eight scored.
The Lumberjacks return to action Friday when they travel to Tulane to open a thee-game series against the Green Wave. The first game of the series is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
