SFA Pitcher Receives League Honor

PLANO, Texas - Junior pitcher Brian Steinocher was named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week announced league officials Monday afternoon. He earns the honor in the program's first week of baseball since the 1995 season.
Steinocher helped the Lumberjacks to a 6-5 victory in the team's season-opener against Arkansas-Little Rock. He pitched five innings, surrendering four hits and only one run, while striking out six batters. The Trojans hit only .222 against the Hallettsville, Texas native.
The `Jacks return to action Friday when they travel to Waco, Texas to open a three-game series against 2005 College World Series participant Baylor. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. from Baylor Ballpark.
