
'Jacks to Face Texas-Pan American Tonight in Edinburg

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team will look to return to the win column when faces Texas-Pan American in the first round of the Al Ogletree Classic Friday in Edinburg, Texas. The game againt the Broncs is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. from Edinburg Stadium. The 'Jacks enter tonight's game with a 2-5 (.286) overall record. SFA will face No. 17 (Baseball America Top 25 poll) Arkansas Saturday and close out the Al Ogletree Classic Sunday with a game against TCU. Both Saturday and Sunday games are scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
SFA vs. the Broncs The Lumberjacks are 3-2 (.600) all-time against Texas-Pan American. Friday's game will mark the first meeting between the two teams since the 1991 season. The two teams met four times on the diamond that season with the `Jacks winning three of the four contests.
SFA vs. the Razorbacks The Lumberjacks are 0-1 all-time against Arkansas. The lone meeting between the two teams came during the 1989 season when the Razorbacks recorded a 9-1 victory.
SFA vs. the Horned Frogs The `Jacks are 2-7 (.222) all-time against TCU. Sunday's game will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 1995 season when TCU swept the two-game series. SFA recorded its two wins in the series during the 1990 season.
On Deck ... The Lumberjacks return home for one game on Tuesday Feb. 21 when they will host Dallas Baptist. The game against the Patriots is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from Jaycees Field at the Nacogdoches City Park. The `Jacks will then hit the road for a rematch with Arkansas-Little Rock. The `Jacks will open the three-game series Friday Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. The final two games of the series against the Trojans will be Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
