Purple Team Takes Annual Scrimmage

NACOGDOCHES - The Purple Team defeated the White Team in the annual Meet the Ladyjacks scrimmage on Thursday at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Purple Team took both games with scores of 30-19 and 30-23.
All-SLC preseason pick Laura Cramer chipped in with 11 kills and 24 total attacks. Freshman Shelley Swendig led both sides in kills with 13 and 35 total attacks for a .229 attack percentage.
Junior Lauren Adams had 27 assists while former SLC freshman of the year and 2005 preseason pick JJ Jones contributed 19.
Freshmen Lauren Railey added nine kills and Ashley Edwards had two solo blocks and a block assist. Six Ladyjacks had at least one block in the scrimmage.
The Ladyjacks will travel to Houston on Saturday, August 27, to kick-off the 2005 season with a pair of matches against Houston and Wichita at the Houston Tournament. They will open their home season on September 20 against Texas-San Antonio at the William R. Johnson Coliseum at 7 p.m.
