
Ladyjack Volleyball Opens Regular Season Saturday

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team will open the 2005 regular season with a pair of road games on Saturday at the University of Houston. The Ladyjacks will face the Cougars at 1 p.m. and Wichita State at 6 p.m. in the Alumni Center on the Houston campus.
The 2005 Ladyjacks have been tabbed as the Southland Conference favorite in preseason voting by the league coaches. The team garnered seven first-place votes and a total of 95 points in the poll. SFA was also picked first in the league sports information director's poll. The Ladyjacks received eight first-place votes and 116 points.
In her 18th year at SFA, 2004 SLC Coach of the Year, Debbie Humphreys is returning 10 letterwinners, including five starters and three All-SLC honorees, from the 2004 Southland Conference Co-Championship team. The team went 26-6 overall and had a 17-3 record in conference play.
The Ladyjacks will play their first 11 matches on the road including their Southland Conference opener against Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond on September 16 at 6.p.m.
They will return to Nacogdoches for their home opener on Monday, September 20 when they battle league opponent Texas-San Antonio at 7 p.m. in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
