
Ladyjack Volleyball to Host Louisiana Tech

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team will take a break from their Southland Conference schedule to take on the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters on Tuesday, October 4 at the Shelton Gymnasium. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
The Ladyjacks go into the match with an overall 12-2 record and a 5-0 SLC record. The Lady Techsters are sitting with a 13-5 record and a 1-3 record in the Western Athletic Conference.
For La. Tech, Shannon Phillips is leading the way in kills with 243, an average of 3.47 per game. Setter Maria Romanowski is averaging 10.38 assists per game with Jillann Walker nabbing 9.38 assists per game. Carly Johnson has 83 blocks on the season with 15 solos.
On the Ladyjack squad, senior Laura Cramer is leading with an average of 3.93 kills per game giving her a total of 203 on the year. Sophomore JJ Jones' 12.02 assists per game average is tops in the Southland Conference. Junior Stephanie Figgers was named Southland Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after she scored 43 digs in the matches against Northwestern State and Sam Houston State.
The Ladyjacks and Lady Techsters have had three opponents in common as they have both faced Louisiana-Lafayette, Grambling State and Northwestern State. The Ladyjacks swept all three teams while the Lady Techsters took wins from Lafayette and Grambling in five games and Northwestern State in four games.
SFA will play one more game at Shelton Gym before returning to the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks were being housed in Shelton Gym while the Coliseum was a temporary home to evacuees from Hurricane Rita.
