Ladyjacks Shutout Stetson Senior Jennifer Wilson paced the SFA attack with 20 kills
DELAND, Fla. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team improved its winning streak to 3 in a row, after beating Stetson, 3-0, Sunday afternoon. The Ladyjacks are now 4-3 (.571) overall.
Senior Jennifer Wilson (Friendswood, Texas) continued her stunning play, recording 20 kills and recording 11 digs against the Hatters. It marked the third consecutive match that Wilson recorded at least 20 kills and at least 10 digs in a match. Sophomore Brittany Burton (Livingston, Texas) recorded 11 kills and senior Angie Wood (Houston, Texas) added 10 as the Ladyjacks picked up their third consecutive win, to move a game over .500.
The Hatters were led by Michelle Clonan who recorded 11 kills on 26 attempts. Teammate Kira Smedley added 10 kills.
"Stetson was a much better team than I expected coming into this match," said SFA head coach Debbie Humphreys. "They played really well but we hung on for the victory. After playing two five-game matches yesterday, I thought that we were physical today but were not as mentally sound as I would have liked for us to be."
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday at the TCU Tournament in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Ladyjacks will open the tournament with a 2 p.m. match against Miami (Ohio). The Ladyjacks will return to the court Friday for a 7:30 p.m., matchup against tournament host Texas Christian.
