Wood Named Preseason All-SLC

PLANO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin senior outside hitter Angie Wood (Houston, Texas) was one of 12 athletes named to the league's preseason all-conference team announced the league office Tuesday morning. Wood is a second-team selection.
Wood was a 2001 All-Southland Conference third-team selection after helping the team to a 23-8 overall record last season and a second-place finish in the league and the league tournament. She finished the season fifth in the SLC with 4.11 kills per game and added 50 total blocks.
The Ladyjacks open up the 2002 season Friday Aug. 30, at the Wichita State Tournament in Wichita, Kansas. The Ladyjacks will take on New Mexico at 2 p.m., and return to the court to play tournament-host Wichita State at 7 p.m.
