SFA plates five in eighth, four in ninth, but is walked off in 12th of game two loss

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Trailing 4-0 through seven, Stephen F. Austin plated five runs in the visiting half of the eighth inning to take a short-lived 5-4 lead, but the Jacks surrendered four runs in the bottom half as Incarnate Word grabbed an 8-5 advantage into the ninth inning of Friday afternoon's second game of a three-game Southland Conference series from Sullivan Field. The Jacks responded with three runs in the ninth as Cermodrick Bland cleared the bases with a three-run triple, but the Cardinals outlasted SFA drawing a bases loaded walk in the 12^th to even the series at a game apiece.

SFA used nine arms in the loss including all three of its primary weekend starters. Cody Templeton went 2.0 innings in a starting role allowing an earned run, while Dylan Mulcahy pitched the third and fourth innings allowing two earned runs on a hit and two walks. Gabriel LeBlanc was the first arm out in the eighth inning but was replaced after two batters for Jack James and finished with two earned runs on his ledger.

Four of the Jacks' five eighth inning runs crossed with two outs as Juan Cantua doubled in a pair, Julian Swift singled in the tying run and Mark Henning, who enjoyed a three-hit game, used a base knock back up the middle to give SFA the lead. Cooper Schneider singled in Coby DeJesus for the first SFA run.

Seanan Farney stranded two UIW runners in the ninth and worked a clean 10^th and 11^th innings before running into trouble in the 12^th. A leadoff walk moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and after an intentional walk, Nate Vidlak took over for Farney, but a two-out walk capped the contest.

Swift recorded his team-leading 22^nd multi-hit game this season and Bland added his 17^th
Cantua's active team-leading hit streak improved to nine games and DeJesus' increased to seven games
Bland registered his fourth game this season of 3+ RBI which is the second most among all Jacks
Henning has reached safely in 29 of his last 30 games
Friday marked the third 3+ hit game by Henning this spring
