Lumberjacks Take Down Host Bulldogs

A 3 for 3 day from Kylie Bishop and a 6.1 shutout inning performance from Kai Hudson lift SFA over Louisiana Tech.
RUSTON, La.- The Stephen F. Austin softball team faced the host Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in their second game of the Bulldog Classic on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Kai Hudson earned the start in the circle against the Bulldog ace, Allie Floyd. Through the first four innings both pitchers recorded scoreless innings allowing five total hits. After two quick outs in the top of the fifth, Lilly Bean singled to the shortstop, then Kaylee Paul hit a blooper single to left field, and Jamie Varga drew a walk to load the bases for Kylie Bishop. Bishop recorded her third hit of the day with a single up the middle that scored Paul and Alexis Grigsby, 2-0. Hudson was able to get out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the sixth to preserve the two-run lead. The Bulldogs had runners on first and second when Amelia Hatthorn came into the circle looking for a save opportunity. Hatthorn induced a pop up, then walked the bases loaded and secured a 2-0 victory off a fly out.
POSTGAME NOTES
• Kylie Bishop went 3-3 from the plate and recorded SFA's two RBIs.
• Lilly Bean and Kaylee Paul each recorded a hit.
• Kai Hudson picked up her third win of the season after pitching 6.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
• Amelia Hatthorn recorded her second save with 0.2 innings pitched after facing the final three batters of the game.
