‘Jacks win with back-to-back Southland openers via shutouts.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin Women's Soccer crushed McNeese in a 4-0 blowout on Thursday, September 18.
The scoring started early in the fourth minute, Alex Bayouth gave the 'Jacks a 1-0 lead with an assist from Brielle Buchanan. Just three minutes later, Sydney Williams was able to pad the lead, giving the 'Jacks a 2-0 advantage when she headed one in for SFA with her teammates Alexis Miller and Logan Heausler setting her up. Bryn Geppert found her first goal of the season, with Miller once again tallying up on the assist column in the 20th minute. Logan Heausler sealed the match in the 64th minute, with an assist from Avery Brandt, closing the night out at a score of 4-0.
The Lumberjacks showed off in an aggressive offensive performance led by Logan Heausler and her three-point performance on the night. SFA shot 13 shots on the night, while only two were off target from the goal. Sierra McCluer, alongside Sydney Williams, Bryn Geppert, Grace Loehr, and Erin Morgan, was a force on defense by not allowing a goal on the night with only two shots on goal.
McNeese kept it close in the shot department with SFA, striking 12 shots on the night with only two finding the net to be saved by Sierra McCluer. Four Cowgirls, Vitoria Mitre, Karlyn Judge, Grace Denison, and Rhianna Maynes-Tourond all took their own two shots on the night to combine for 10 of the 12 shots for McNeese. Celest Marijnissen saved four shots and allowed four goals on the night.
