Two Lumberjacks score first career goal for SFA in first road match of the season
TULSA, Okla. – Stephen F. Austin Women's Soccer was defeated 3-2 in their sixth meeting all-time against Tulsa University.
In the first 45 minutes, the 'Jacks were able to set up for six shots against Tulsa, as the Golden Hurricanes nearly matched SFA in the shot department, registering seven shots in the first half. As both sides rallied to draw the opening goal, SFA was able to capitalize first with a strike from Ally Weir who put one past the keeper for a goal in the 38th minute of the match. Weir's first collegiate goal was the late difference in the first half, giving SFA a 1-0 lead at the break.
SFA opened the second half right where they left off after the first, as Brielle Buchanan was able to feed a pass to Alexis Miller who finished to push the 'Jacks up 2-0. Tulsa then added to the scoreboard after their first goal came 62 minutes into the match. Shortly after, Tulsa added two more to push past SFA for a 3-2 score before hitting the 90-minute mark to conclude the match.
POSTGAME NOTES
SFA moves to 0-1-1 on the season and will now head to Jonesboro, Arkansas, for their third meeting against Arkansas State on August 21.
