Lumberjacks Prep for J. Fred Duckett Meet

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Track and Field Team will head to Houston on Friday to compete at the J. Fred Duckett Meet, hosted by Rice University. The Lumberjacks are no strangers to competing in Houston, as this will be the fifth time they've competed there this season - three indoor and two outdoor events.
The Lumberjacks are coming off two very successful meets. Last weekend, they went to Waco to compete at the Michael Johnson Invite and had six athletes earn top-ten finishes in an ultra-competitive field. Two weekends ago, the Lumberjacks showed out at their home meet, as a staggering 34 teams and athletes recorded top-five finishes at the Carl Kight Invitational.
This will be a one-day event, with all the action taking place on Saturday. The meet starts at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer and is scheduled to finish at 10:25 p.m. with the men's 5,000-meter race.
