AUSTIN, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Softball team (14-17, 4-5 SLC) hit the road as they travel to Austin to battle the number two ranked University of Texas Longhorns (31-2, 5-1 SEC) on Tuesday evening.
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The Lumberjacks will be looking to build off their 6-5 series finale win over the Incarnate Word Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. The Lumberjacks offense found their legs late in the win over the Cardinals as all six of their runs came over the final two innings, including a five-run sixth offensive outburst. SFA sent nine batters to the plate in the sixth to help spark their sixth-run inning to take a 5-4 lead, before picking up the eventual game winning run in the top of the seventh. The Lumberjacks will now need their momentum from their late-game comeback against the Cardinals to carry over into Tuesday as they take on one of the best teams in the nation in the Longhorns.
Longhorns at a Glance:
The Texas Longhorns close out a four-game home stand on Tuesday evening against the Lumberjacks looking to keep their perfect 14-0 home record intact and extend their winning streak to four games. Texas completed a three-game sweep of the Auburn Tigers over the weekend, two of the wins coming by run-rule, and have won 20 of their last 21 games, all while holding a 5-1 SEC record this season. Texas will hit the road for a six-game road trip after Tuesday, opening the trip with a three-game weekend set against no. 18 ranked Mississippi State.
Scouting Report-Lumberjacks:
Kyi'Marri Ester helped kick start the Lumberjack rally against the Cardinals as she launched her second home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field to score Ellie Vance and get SFA on the board. Ellie Vance, Chloe Reneau, and Kaylee Paul came through in big moments for the SFA offense as well as all three totaled RBIs while Adelyn Becerra displayed some incredible patience at the plate as she drew three walks on the afternoon. Jordyn Ages picked up her fourth win of the season in the process, while Alexis Telford tossed 2.2 innings of one-run ball with a pair of strikeouts to lock down the win for SFA.
Scouting Report-Longhorns:
Ashton Maloney leads the high-powered Texas offense with her .490 batting average, leading the team with 49 hits in 100 at-bats. Katie Stewart has been an RBI machine for Texas as she has driven in 53 this year, which leads the nation. Reese Atwood has launched 12 home runs for the Longhorns to lead the team, while Kayden Henry is 19-20 on stolen base attempts this year. Teagan Kavan has been the ace of the Longhorn staff as she has thrown six complete games, and holds a 14-1 record this season, striking out 115 batters so far.

Tuesday evening's clash will see these two teams meet for the 17th all-time meeting with Texas leading the series 14-2 to date. These two schools last met in 2023 when the Longhorns posted a 13-2 home win over SFA.
