‘Jacks Drop Series Opener to Cardinals

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team (11-14, 1-3 SLC) opened their second home conference series against the Lamar Cardinals (15-10, 3-1 SLC).
Alexis Telford earned the start in the circle for the Lumberjacks and started the game with two 1-2-3 innings. Lamar broke through in the top of the fourth as they scored two runs, 2-0. SFA responded in the bottom of the fifth with a leadoff triple from Lilly Bean that was followed by an RBI double from Kyi'Marri Ester, 2-1. Lamar extended their lead with a two-run home run, 4-1. After that home run from the Cardinals, the 'Jacks were unable to mount a comeback and fell in the first game of the series, 4-1.

SFA will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday March 15th with a doubleheader to finish up the series at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
