PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Softball team (10-13, 1-2 SLC) hit the road as they stay in-state and travel to Prairie View for a midweek clash with the Prairie View A&M University Panthers (8-10, 2-0 SWAC).
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The Lumberjacks fresh off their first home series of the season, will be looking to get back in the win column on Tuesday afternoon. The Lumberjacks opened up conference play last weekend against the Nicholls State Colonels and wasted no time securing their first conference win of the season with an 8-0 run-rule win over the Colonels in their home opener. The Lumberjack offense kept their offensive momentum going at home as they totaled eight or more hits in two of the three games against the Colonels. Following their midweek against the Panthers the 'Jacks will be back at home for four straight contests as they play host to both Lamar and Sam Houston State
Panthers at a Glance:
The Prairie View A&M Panthers kicked off conference play last weekend as they traveled to Grambling to square off with Grambling State University in a three-game series that saw the Panthers take two of three over the Tigers. The Panthers claimed consecutive 4-0 and 8-3 wins over the Tigers to start their 2025 conference slate and can now make themselves at home as they open up a nine-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon against the Lumberjacks.
Scouting Report-Lumberjacks:
Kyi'Marri Ester hit at a torrid pace this last weekend against the Colonels as she finished the weekend hitting 5-8 (.625 batting average), helping to power the SFA offense in their 8-0 home opener win as she tallied a triple and five RBIs in the commanding win. Ester than capped off her stellar weekend with a pair of hits and RBIs in the series finale, finishing the weekend with seven total RBIs. Mikaelah Burkland recorded her seventh multi-hit effort of the season in the series finale against the Colonels, which included her first triple of the year, while Alexis Telford returned to the circle for SFA and pitched six scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts in an eventual 8-0 SFA win.
Scouting Report-Panthers:
Janaiya Thomas has done a little bit of everything for Prairie View so far this season as she is hitting .350, has two doubles, two triples, a home run, and has taken advantage of hitting with runners on as she has 14 RBIs this year. Kearstin Tinsley has been active on the basepaths as she has swiped 17 bases this season, while Brielle Moreno and Madalyne Martinez have combined to throw over 70 innings and three complete games in the circle for the Panthers.

Tuesday afternoon's road contest will see these two teams square off for the 16th all-time meeting with SFA holding a 15-0 record all-time over the Panthers. These two teams last met in 2023, when the Lumberjacks swept a doubleheader against the Panthers at SFA Softball Field.
