SAN MARCOS, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team (4-6) finished out their time at the Bobcat Tournament on Saturday with a rematch against Fordham (3-5) and finished up with St. Thomas (4-4).
Game 1:
Reagan Hall got the start in the circle for the 'Jacks as the game turned into a pitcher's duel early on with Hall only allowing two hits through four innings. That story changed in the top of the fifth as SFA recorded four straight hits and scored the first two runs of the game. It all started with a single from Kaylee Paul, followed by an RBI double from Mikaelah Burkland, then a single from Hope Lusk, and finally an RBI single from Ellie Vance, 2-0. SFA did not stop there as a sacrifice fly from Ella Hill brought in Lusk from third, 3-0. Gabby Coffey followed that up with an RBI single to the shortstop that extended the 'Jacks lead to 4-0 in the middle of the fifth.
Fordham began their comeback in the bottom of the fifth as they brought in a run, 4-1. In the next inning, the Rams hit a two-RBI double to cut the deficit to one, 4-3. Hall looked to close out the game for the 'Jacks in the bottom of the seventh, but the Rams had other plans as they hit a home run to left field to tie the game up at four, before a walk-off RBI single ended the game, 5-4 in favor of Fordham.
