
Lumberjacks Fall to Bobcats in the First Game of the Bobcat Tournament

SAN MARCOS, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team (2-4) traveled to San Marcos for the Bobcat Tournament and opened their weekend slate against the host team, Texas State Bobcats (3-2).
Mikaelah Burkland started off the game with a leadoff single and was advanced to second on a bunt from Hope Lusk, but the 'Jacks were unable to get her in. In the bottom of the first, starter Reagan Hall picked up a strikeout and the SFA defense turned a double play to end the inning.
The first scoring happened in the bottom of the second when Texas State hit a leadoff solo home run to right field, 1-0. SFA would respond back in the top of the fourth with a leadoff solo homerun to left field from Gabby Coffey, 1-1. Texas State extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth, 3-1. SFA was unable to mount a comeback in the top of the seventh as the game ended 3-1.

SFA will start day two of the Bobcat Tournament at 10:00 a.m. against Fordham followed by another matchup against Texas State at 2:30 p.m.
