
Lumberjacks Set for First-Round Battle with Islanders in SLC Tournament

SFA aims to repeat success against Islanders after 3-1 win in October.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin women's soccer travels to Beaumont, Texas, for the opening round in the Southland Soccer Tournament. In round one, SFA will face off against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 4.
The last time these two sides squared off was just last month when the 'Jacks took down the Islanders in a 3-1 match. Taylor Dodson highlighted the scoresheet with her impressive multi-goal performance, with Sierra McCluer adding five saves and only allowing one goal.
The Islanders head into the tournament with a 5-8-5 record and a 3-4-3 SLC record, finishing with the seventh seed in the tournament. Madison Page leads the team in scoring with four goals, with four other Islanders following behind with three goals. Hayven Harrison leads Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as their goalie, accumulating 29 saves on the year with a goals allowed average of 1.45 with three shutouts.
The Lumberjacks capped off the regular season with a 7-3-9 record, and sporting a 5-1-4 SLC record, capturing the two seed in the SLC Tournament. Brielle Buchanan and Taylor Dodson lead the 'Jacks with five goals, with Buchanan leading in points with 14 on the year. On defense, Sydney Williams recorded 1578 minutes to lead SFA in minutes, while Sierra McCluer notched 75 saves, allowing only 15 goals and nine shutouts in the regular season.
