
‘Jacks Handle Business with 2–0 Statement Victory Over HCU

McCluer posts her eighth shutout of the season in dominant fashion against the Huskies.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin women's soccer stormed over the Huskies in a 2-0 victory at the Chopping Block on Sunday, October 19.
SFA found the opening goal in the 21st minute, when a sequence of powerful shots by SFA led to Brielle Buchanan finding an opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Buchanan was able to find a gap in the Huskies defense to net her fifth goal to tie Taylor Dodson as one of the leading goal scorers for SFA. Shortly after, just before the half, Alexis Miller was able to net the second goal for the 'Jacks with Lucie Platt notching her first assist as a Lumberjack, to give SFA their prominent 2-0 lead.
Houston Christian was limited on offense by the standout SFA defense, only getting nine shots off, with three shots on goal, and being held scoreless. Seven of the eight shot-takers for HCU were only able to ring one shot off for the Huskies, as Jasmine Diaz was able to record two shots. HCU goalie, Emmy McKeon, allowed two goals with seven saves in 90 minutes.
SFA was able to show off a dominant offensive performance with two goals on 27 shots, led by Buchanan and Miller, with an offensive jolt by Logan Heausler in her seven shot attempts. Sydney Williams, Bryn Geppert, Erin Morgan, Sawyer Kohutek, and Avery Brandt continue their defensive efforts as one of the most intimidating defenses in the Southland. Allowing only three shots on goal, and holding HCU scoreless with Sierra McCluer able to back up the 'Jacks defense with three saves on the afternoon.
