’Jacks aim to continue dominance over HCU and stay strong in Southland standings.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin women's soccer squares off against Houston Christian at the Chopping Block at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 19.
In the series, SFA leads with 11 wins and four losses. The Lumberjacks have outscored the Huskies 23-8 since the first meeting in 2010, and have posted eight shutout victories for SFA. The 'Jacks have a dominating 4-1 record when playing in Nacogdoches. Last home meeting for SFA, the Lumberjacks took a slim 1-0 victory in 2019.
SFA was victorious over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a 3-1 match on Sunday. Taylor Dodson netted two of the Lumberjacks goals and was named the SLC Offensive Player of the Week following the match. Logan Heausler grabbed two assists that match, claiming a new season-high for assists. Taylor Dodson leads the 'Jacks in scoring with five goals on the season, while on defense, Sierra McCluer is continuing to put up historic numbers. She currently has 67 saves this season, and is tied 39th in the nation for saves. She is also in the top 60 for save percentage, at 82.7%. The Lumberjacks currently sit at second in the SLC for fewest goals allowed, just short of NSU.
