NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks men's basketball team (9-12, 2-8) close out their three-game homestand Saturday afternoon against the visiting Lamar University Cardinals (12-9, 7-3).
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The Lumberjacks will look to use the momentum and confidence from their last game in their homestand finale against the Cardinals. SFA grabbed their second conference win of the season defeating the visiting East Texas A&M Lions, 79-72 on Monday night at the Sawmill. The Lumberjacks posted their fourth highest point total of the season vs. East Texas A&M in the win and snapped a four game overall and home losing streak. The offense came from a variety of players as four different Lumberjacks posted double-digit point totals in the win. The win marked the sixth home win of the season.
Cardinals at a Glance:
The Lamar University Cardinals will also be looking to keep their momentum rolling as they will be carrying a three-game win streak into Nacogdoches on Saturday afternoon. During the course of the win streak, the Cardinals have posted a road win over Nicholls State before consecutive home wins against East Texas A&M and Northwestern State. The Cardinals will now open up a mini two-game road trip against SFA on Saturday before closing out the road trip on Monday in Hammond, Louisiana against Southeastern Louisiana as they look to improve their 5-4 road record this year.

A flurry of Lumberjacks got into the scoring action in their win against East Texas A&M as four different Lumberjacks recorded double-digit point scoring efforts in the home win on Monday evening. Matt Hayman has been the definition of consistency for SFA over the last month as he posted his sixth straight game with double-digit points with a team-leading 21 points against the Lions and has posted double-digit point scoring efforts in 10 of his last 11 games. Keon Thompson stuffed the stat sheet against the Lions, posting his first double-double as a Lumberjack with a 17-points, 10-assists, six-rebounds, and three-steals against East Texas A&M. Nana Antwi-Boasiako and Keith Lamar were both efficient with their shots as they recorded 12 and 11 points respectively off the bench. Antwi-Boasiako tacked on a team-high seven rebounds in just 19 minutes, while Lamar helped spark SFA's offense to a season-high 12 three-pointers with a pair of triples of his own in 17 minutes.

Alexis Marmolejos helps lead a three-way scoring effort for the Cardinals offense with his 15.4 points per game as he is always a threat to pull up from beyond the arc as evidenced by his 52 three-point field goals this year. Ja'Sean Jackson has been a solid contributor on both ends of the court for Lamar. He has dished out a team-high 84 assists, while also leading the defensive effort with 32 steals, all while also averaging 11.8 points per game offensively. Andrew Holifield rounds out the Cardinals offense with his 10.6 points per game, while pulling down 125 boards and blocking a squad high 39 shots this year.

NEW ORLEANS, LA.- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks men's basketball team (9-12, 2-8) travel to New Orleans for an evening game matchup against the hosting New Orleans University Privateers (4-17, 2-8).
Privateers at a Glance:
The New Orleans University Privateers will be looking to get back in the win column on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Hammond, Louisiana for a matchup against Southeastern Louisiana as they seek to snap a three-game losing streak. The Privateers will then return home following the Saturday matchup against Southeastern Louisiana as they play host to SFA looking to claim their first home win of the season. The Privateers non-conference schedule was loaded as they played against Kansas State, 17th ranked Baylor, Iowa, Texas, LSU, and Vanderbilt. They look to improve their 2-8 conference record.
Scouting Report-Privateers
James White has been the MVP of the Privateers offense as well as the Southland Conference as White leads both the Privateers and the entire Southland conference with his 19.2 points per game average. Jah Short has been a kick starter for the Privateers offense dishing out a team-leading 70 assists, while being equally solid defensively as he has recorded 36 steals and 10 blocks. MJ Thomas has made his impact felt as a freshman as he has pulled down 134 rebounds and leads the team with 13 blocks.
