COMMERCE, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (4-2-2, 1-1-0) fell on the road to the host A&M-Commerce Golden Lions (2-6-3, 1-0-1) as the Golden Lions defended their home field with a 2-1 win.

Commerce looking to defend their home turf got off to a quick start in this one as they would score a goal in the fifth minute to go ahead 1-0 early. The remainder of the first half remained a tightly contested back and forth affair but that 1-0 score would stand until halftime for A&M-Commerce. However, the Lumberjacks came out of the break roaring to start to the second half as right out of halftime in the 48th Ava Shannon would nab a steal off a Golden Lions throw-in and start the offensive attack the other way for SFA as she would find Jayme Bailey on a pass, that allowed Bailey to dribble in and fire a strike into the back of the net to knot the score up at one goal apiece. The remainder of the second half saw more chess match being played by the two sides as neither team was able to take the lead until the Golden Lions late into the night would score a goal in the 84th minute to reclaim a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately for SFA, they were unable to find the equalizer in the remaining time and fell 2-1 on Friday night.
