Lumberjacks Travel to University of Louisiana Monroe

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks travel for their final midweek game of the year on Wednesday, May 8th to play the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) Warhawks. First pitch is set for 6:00 P.M. CST. The road game is the first of a seven-game road stretch to end the season for the Lumberjacks.
The Series
The Warhawks currently hold a 13-10 advantage in the all-time series over the Lumberjacks. The series dates to March 10th, 2006, with ULM earning a 4-3 victory in Monroe, Louisiana. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this year with the Lumberjacks looking for revenge after ULM took the first game winning 13-2 in Nacogdoches, Texas on February 28th, 2024.
A Look at SFA
The Lumberjacks are currently 9-39 overall and 5-22 in Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play. After dropping the first game of the weekend series to Utah Tech, the Lumberjacks rallied winning the second game 12-4 and winning the Sunday rubber match 2-1. The series win was the first series win for the Lumberjacks this season. The weekend series also wrapped up the Lumberjacks home schedule for the season at Pilgrim's Park.
Freshman Colton Griffin had a massive weekend performance for the Lumberjacks. The Houston, Texas native was 6-13 (.458 BA) at the plate while also collecting five RBI's, one double, one triple, and two stolen bases. In the second game of the weekend, Colton was a home run away from hitting for the cycle.
Brock Knoerr still leads the offensive attack for the Lumberjacks with his .303 batting average. Cole Hill has started all 48 games for the Lumberjacks this season and leads the offense in four offensive categories. The Richardson, Texas native is first in runs (31), hits (54), total bases (80), and walks (17). Nolan Brown leads the team with his nine home runs on the year. Reid Boyett leads the pitching staff with his 68.2 innings pitched and 60 strikeouts.
A Look at ULM
The Warhawks are currently 20-28 overall and 7-17 in Sun Belt Conference (SBC) play. ULM is coming off a weekend conference series with Georgia Southern which saw them drop all three games to the Eagles. The Warhawks are 1-4 in their last five games with their last win coming against Alcorn State by a final score of 17-2 in seven innings on Wednesday May 1st.
Bryce Blaser leads the Warhawks offense with his .353 batting average. Easton Winfield is the clubhouse leader in runs (43), hits (55), home runs (9), and total bases (93). Dalton Hitt leads the pitching staff with his .061 ERA and Beau Blanchard leads the staff with 43.1 innings pitched and 40 strikeouts.
