Lumberjacks Fall to Patriots

The Lumberjacks got the scoring started in the top of the first inning after Colton Griffin tripled down the right field line to put a runner on third base with one out. Peyton Parker then came to the plate and grounded out to third base allowing Griffin to score and the Lumberjacks led 1-0. The Patriots were quick to respond scoring five runs in the bottom of the first to reclaim the lead, 5-1. DBU went on to extend their lead scoring five runs in the bottom of the second and four runs in the bottom of the third. After three complete innings the Patriots led 14-1.
In the top of the fourth inning SFA responded as Tyree Carr singled up the middle scoring Tom Biggs, cutting in to the DBU lead, 14-2. The Patriots were able to score one run in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend their lead, 15-2. In the top of the fifth inning Alex Gomez reached on a fielder's choice and scored Colton Griffin from second thanks to a throwing error by the second baseman. Nolan Brown then flied out to right field scoring Peyton Parker from third. The Patriots were held scoreless in the bottom of the fifth inning and after five complete innings DBU led 15-4.
DBU scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend their lead yet again, 19-4. In the top of the seventh inning Peyton Parker cut into the Patriots lead hitting a solo home run over the left field wall. The Lumberjacks were unable to score again in the seventh inning and the 10-run rule was enacted.
Dillon Haines (1-0) took the win on the mound for the Patriots and Dylan Mulcahy (1-1) took the loss for the Lumberjacks.
The Lumberjacks will return to action for their final home series of the season May 3rd-5th. This will be the last regular season series for the Lumberjacks. Sunday May 5th will be Senior Day for the team. The series is set to get under way Friday May 3rd with first pitch set for 6:30 P.M. CST. The games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
