Lumberjacks Host The Seattle Redhawks In Weekend Series

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks host the Seattle University Redhawks in a three-game Western Athletic Conference (WAC) series at Pilgrim's Park. The series is set to begin on Friday, April 19th, with a double header starting at 3:00 P.M. CST followed by the second game at 7:00 P.M. Saturday's game time will be determined after the second game on Friday night due to weather concerns this weekend.
The Series
This weekend's meeting will be the first time the two teams have played each other. Since SFA joined the WAC in 2021 the two teams have not met.
A Look at SFA
The Lumberjacks come into the weekend with a 6-31 overall record and 2-16 WAC record. SFA is coming off a midweek win over the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff which saw the 'Jacks collect 12 hits and score 13 runs. The win was the Lumberjacks 13th time having 10 or more hits in a game and it was also their fourth double digit scoring performance of the year. SFA freshman right-handed pitcher Dylan Mulcahy picked up his first collegiate win of his career carrying a no hitter and perfect game into the fourth inning before surrendering his first hit and allowing his first baserunner. Senior Hunter Prescher had a career high four RBIs in the game. Brock Knoerr also tied his single game career-high in hits with three.
Brock Knoerr leads the Lumberjacks offense with a .330 batting average. Cole Hill is still the club house leader in hits (44) and runs scored (23). Hill is tied with Nolan Brown for the team lead in total bases with 68 and is only two home runs away from tying Brown for the team lead in home runs (8). Reid Boyett continues to lead the pitching staff with 56 innings pitched and 48 punch outs. Boyett is also the only pitcher on the 'Jacks staff with a complete game this season.
A Look at Seattle U
The Redhawks come into the weekend with a 9-27 record overall and are 3-12 in WAC Conference play. Seattle U is coming off a midweek win over Saint Martin's by a final score of 10-2. The Redhawks were swept by Sacramento State in a weekend series and are 2-3 in their last five games.
Derek Gellos leads the offense with his .379 batting average and 50 hits. Sam Kane leads the Redhawks offense with seven home runs and 81 total bases. Blake Smith leads the Redhawks pitching staff with his 4.25 ERA and 55 innings pitched. Peter Chronowski leads the team in strikeouts with 35.
