Lumberjacks Topple Golden Lions in Midweek

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks took the win over the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions by a final score of 13-3.
Cole Hill got the hit parade started in the first inning ripping a leadoff single to the shortstop. Brock Knoerr stepped to the plate and followed Hills lead with a single through the right side advancing Hill to second. Nolan Brown then loaded the bases after a bunt single. Tom Biggs then stepped to the plate and came up big once again ripping a triple into the right center gap picking up three runs and the Lumberjacks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Biggs then came scored thanks to a Hunter Prescher groundout and the 'Jacks extended their lead, 4-0. Tyree Carr came to bat and picked up his first hit by pitch of the night then quickly stole second to put himself in scoring position. Dylan Bourgeois stepped to the plate with two outs and singled to right field tacking on another run and taking the lead 5-0.
The bottom of the second saw the Lumberjacks score two more runs as Cole Hill picked up his second hit of the night with a mammoth home run over the left field wall, 6-0. Hunter Prescher put the ball in play again grounding out to the short stop and allowing Brock Knoerr to score from third base, 7-0.
Dylan Mulcahy started on the mound and carried a perfect game and no hitter into the fourth inning until the Golden Lions picked up a hit through the right side. UAPB was able to push one run across in the top of the fourth inning, but the Lumberjacks still led, 7-1. SFA was quick to answer in the bottom of the inning scoring three runs. Hunter Prescher singled to center field picking up his third and fourth RBIs of the game. Bryce Yosko then grounded out to the second base allowing Prescher to score from third and after four complete innings the Lumberjacks lead stood at 10-1.
The bottom of the sixth saw the Lumberjacks extend their lead yet again after Will Dixon was able to work a walk with the bases loaded, scoring Tom Biggs, 11-1.
The Golden Lions would not go away easily as they were able to score two runs in the top of the seventh inning to keep the 10-run rule at bay. After six and a half innings the Lumberjacks led 11-3. After a Cole Hill line out to right field to lead off the inning Brock Knoerr picked up his third hit of the night and advancing on a throwing error by the shortstop to put a runner in scoring position with one out. Nolan Brown then worked his second walk of the game and Alex Gomez stepped to the plate with two outs. Alex picked up his first hit of the year scoring Nolan Brown and Brock Knoerr and enacting the 10-run rule winning by a final score of 13-3.
The Lumberjacks collected 12 hits in the win. It was their 13th game this season with double digit hits. The double-digit scoring performance was also their fourth double-digit scoring performance of the season.
Dylan Mulcahy (1-0) picked up his first collegiate win of his career on the mound for the Lumberjacks and Jayden Brown (0-1) took the loss for the Golden Lions.
The Lumberjacks return to action this weekend April 19th-20th for a three game WAC Conference Series at Pilgrim's Park. Due to inclement weather, there will be a Friday double header starting at 3:00 P.M. with the second game scheduled for 7:00 P.M. and a single game Saturday. Saturday's game time will be announced after game two on Friday night. The games will be broadcast on ESPN+. You can keep up with all the action and receive updates on game times on social media.
