Lumberjacks Travel to Arlington For Weekend Series With Mavericks

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks will travel to Arlington, Texas this weekend (March 22-24) to play a three game WAC conference series against the UT Arlington Mavericks.
The Matchup
UT Arlington currently holds a 24-22 overall record against SFA. The last time the two teams met saw a Mavericks win by a final score of 11-3 on April 23rd, 2023. UTA was able to win last season's series winning two out of three games.
A Look at SFA
After not playing a midweek game, the Lumberjacks were able to reset after a tough trip to Orem, Utah which saw the Wolverines of Utah Valley winning all three games and improved to 8-13 overall and 4-2 in WAC play. The Lumberjacks (3-19, 0-6) will look to get back in the win column for the first time since defeating Central Michigan on February 18th.
Cole Hill currently leads the team in batting average with his .300 mark and his team leading 24 hits. Hill is tied for second on the team with three home runs. Reid Boyett still leads the pitching staff with his 5.40 ERA and 35 innings pitched. Boyett had a career high eight innings pitched against the Wolverines along with a career high nine strikeout performance. Boyett's career high strikeout performance now ranks him first on the pitching staff with 27 punchouts.
A Look at UTA
The Mavericks currently sit at a 7-14 overall record and 3-3 in WAC Conference play. UTA will return home this weekend after a midweek road trip to play TCU which saw a Horned Frogs win 7-3 over the Mavericks.
The Mavericks offense is led by Tyson Pointer's .306 batting average and 26 hits. Parker Airhart currently leads the team in home runs with five. Caylon Dygert leads the UTA pitching staff with his 37.1 innings pitched and 3.13 ERA. Zach Norris is currently the leader in strikeouts with 29.
