Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The Lumberjacks expectation-defying season continues to reach new heights as the year goes on with the latest accomplishment for SFA being crowned Southland Conference Tournament Champions for the fourth time in program history. The Lumberjacks battled East Texas A&M in the championship game, scoring twice in the final 12 minutes of the game to pull away late from the Lions and claim a 2-0 championship victory for the first time since 2012. The Lumberjacks now find themselves in the NCAA Tournament just one year after posting a year with just two wins and being outscored 59-9 by their opponents.
Horned Frogs at a Glance:
The TCU Horned Frogs return home following a Big 12 Championship run that saw TCU fall just short of being crowned Big 12 champs. The Horned Frogs defeated Colorado 3-1, and followed that up with a 2-1 defeat of BYU, before falling in a 1-0 nail-biter to Kansas in the championship game. The Horned Frogs now return home for the first round of the NCAA Tournament and will look to continue their strong play at home as they posted a 7-0-1 regular season home record that included wins over Alabama, BYU, Arizona, West Virginia, and Arizona State.
Scouting Report:
Jayme Bailey capped off her fantastic senior season with SFA by being named Southland Tournament MVP in addition to her team-leading 10 goals and 26 points this year. Bailey was also named to the All-Tournament Team and was joined on there by fellow teammates Erin Morgan, Ella Morgan, Maddie Bowers, Brielle Buchanan, and Ava Shannon. Bowers formed quite the offensive duo with Bailey this season as Bowers dished out 11 assists on the year to finish the year with 23 points. Meanwhile, both Morgan sisters, Buchanan, and Shannon all netted multiple goals this year for the potent SFA offense.
The Horned Frogs offense is a three-headed monster spearheaded by Seven Castain who recorded 13 goals and 32 points for TCU.
